Whole Child Supports

Educating the whole child addresses every student’s comprehensive needs through the shared responsibility of the student, family, school and community. It ensures every student is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. Integrated support services in schools recognize that in order to ensure student success, the physical, emotional and mental health needs of children and their families must be addressed and supported through school and community partnerships.

The ASCD defines the Whole Child Approach as: Each child, in each school, in each of our communities deserves to be healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. That’s what a whole child approach to learning, teaching, and community engagement really is. Learn more >
